The Big Island, Hawaii
Recently I travelled to the Big Island of Hawaii. It was truly an amazing trip that I was sad to see end. I have always wanted to visit Hawaii, and after doing much research on the Big Island, I booked it! I was there for 10 night and 11 days. It went by fast, and didn't last long enough. While on the island, I stayed on the Waikoloa Coast. Your probably wondering why not Kona? Well, Wiakoloa was the perfect distance from all of the activities and sight-seeing destinations on my to do list.
For lodging I stayed at the Waikoloa Marriott Resort and Spa. The Marriott was a wonderful hotel with a friendly staff. It had a restaurant, lounge, cafe, conference rooms, pools, private beach, , and parking. The lounge was on the same floor as the lobby and offered comfortable seating and fire pits that over looked the pool area. The private beach was peaceful, however the sand was not as smooth and soft as you would expect. The hotel offered excursions for guests and surf board, paddle board, kayak, and snorkel equipment rentals. The pool area was relaxing and not as busy as I would have imagined. We had no problem grabbing a lounge chair each day. There was a children's pool, a pool with a waterside, and an infinity pool. Because we travelled in September (the off-season), I can only imagine in the peak of the summer months the hotel is much busier.
All and All I would stay there again. If I ever return I may stay at a different hotel for a slightly different experience. I would even consider saying at smaller hotel rather than a large resort. We spent most of our time going from place to place, and did not take full advantage of everything that the resort had to offer.
